CIVIL ENGINEERING is a broad field that encompasses subjects such as solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, environmental engineering, water resources management, structural analysis, systems analysis and mathematics. The undergraduate experience in civil and environmental engineering at ICEAS is enhanced by participation in site visits and project works, which are often related to professional development.
Beyond graduation
Career opportunities for civil engineers are very diverse in various subdisciplines including structural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, geo sensing systems engineering, transportation engineering, and others. After graduation, many are often employed as technical specialists, and with increasing experience become managers and trouble shooters. Employment opportunities range from working on contract projects for individual companies such as consulting firms or construction companies, to working for municipalities that commission projects or for government agencies that oversee industries and communities. Many engineers also find careers working with financial institutions that fund projects or, in the spirit of entrepreneurship, establish their own companies.
